Our Vision
At the Mixed PGA Championship, our vision is to elevate the visibility, appeal, and unity of men’s and women’s golf through a groundbreaking joint championship. We believe in creating a platform that celebrates talent, fosters inclusivity, and redefines competition in golf. By bringing together the world’s top male and female players, we aim to inspire a new generation of fans and athletes who see the sport as a shared experience.
Through this event, we strive to bridge gaps, unite audiences, and highlight the shared excellence that makes golf a global phenomenon. Our goal is not only to celebrate the game but also to pave the way for a future where collaboration and equality are at the forefront of professional sports. The Mixed PGA Championship is more than a tournament—it’s a movement to champion unity, innovation, and the enduring spirit of competition.
Format
The Mixed PGA Championship combines the traditions of major golf tournaments with innovative elements to create a unique and inclusive experience. Here's how the format works:
Separate Fields, Shared Stage
The Women’s and Men’s PGA Championships take place simultaneously on the same iconic golf course.
While fields and prize purses remain separate to honor the traditions of each tour, both events share the spotlight, celebrating the sport as a whole.
Alternating Tee Times
Each day features alternating tee times for men’s and women’s groups, ensuring a balanced schedule and equitable exposure for both tours.
Men and women compete in separate groups to maintain a smooth pace of play while highlighting the unique dynamics of each competition.
Team Leaderboard
An exciting team component adds a collaborative twist: mixed-gender teams, consisting of two men and two women, are formed for an additional leaderboard.
The top three scores from each team (out of four players) count toward a team trophy, fostering camaraderie and engaging fans in a whole new way.
This innovative format blends tradition with inclusivity, offering fans a thrilling and unified major championship experience.
Qualification
As of April 1, 2078, the Mixed PGA Championship invites the top 50 male and female golfers in the world, based on the Rolex Rankings, to compete in this prestigious event. This exclusive selection ensures that only the finest players from both tours take part, showcasing the highest level of talent and competition. With the world’s best golfers coming together at Oakmont, the stage is set for an unforgettable display of skill, strategy, and sportsmanship.
Event Goals
More than just a tournament; it’s a bold step forward in the evolution of professional golf. This groundbreaking event aims to reshape the sport, foster inclusivity, and provide a platform that celebrates both the differences and shared excellence of men’s and women’s golf.
Promote Gender Equality in Golf: By showcasing male and female players on the same stage, the Mixed PGA Championship bridges the visibility gap between tours, creating opportunities for greater recognition and respect across genders.
Attract a Broader Audience: Through the excitement of mixed play and innovative formats, the event is designed to captivate a diverse audience, drawing in younger fans and casual viewers who may not traditionally engage with professional golf.
Create a Unique Fan Experience: By introducing fans of men’s and women’s golf to the talents of both tours, the Mixed PGA Championship fosters deeper connections, builds lasting engagement, and provides an unforgettable experience that unites the golf community like never before.
This event embodies the spirit of innovation and collaboration, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in professional golf while staying true to the traditions that make the game special.
History
The Mixed PGA Championship began in 2026, an ambitious vision brought to life by LPGA rookie Ashley Chow. Recognizing the opportunity to unite men’s and women’s golf on a single stage, Ashley partnered with the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour to create a groundbreaking event that showcased the best golfers in the world while promoting inclusivity and equality.
Over the decades, the championship has been hosted at some of the most iconic courses in golf, including Pebble Beach, Pinehurst, St. Andrews, and Oakmont. Legendary golfers such as Nelly Korda, Rory McIlroy, Jin Young Ko, and Viktor Hovland competed in the early years, setting the tone for what would become one of the sport's most prestigious events.
In 2070, the Mixed PGA Championship added a new layer to its legacy with the introduction of the Chow Unity Cup, honoring Ashley Chow’s contributions to the game. This mixed-team competition, a hallmark of the event, fosters collaboration by combining men and women into teams competing for an additional trophy.
Today, the Mixed PGA Championship stands as a testament to the transformative power of bold ideas, uniting fans, players, and the sport itself in a celebration of shared excellence and progress.
